The Service is offered solely for entertainment, cultural exploration, and self-reflection purposes. Astrology is not a science. Nothing produced by the Service is verified by any scientific body and no claim of empirical accuracy is made.

2. NOT PROFESSIONAL ADVICE OF ANY KIND
LifeIndex does NOT provide and is not a substitute for: medical advice, mental-health counselling, psychiatric treatment, psychological therapy, legal advice, financial advice, investment guidance, tax advice, marriage/relationship counselling, career counselling, or any regulated professional service. Always consult a qualified, licensed professional for any decision affecting your health, finances, relationships, family, business, legal status, or wellbeing. 4. NO GUARANTEES — INTERPRETIVE CONTENT
All readings, predictions, dates, timings, compatibility scores, planetary interpretations, and AI responses are interpretive opinions, not statements of fact. LifeIndex makes no representation, warranty, or guarantee of accuracy, completeness, reliability, suitability, currency, or fitness for any purpose. Outcomes described may never occur. Past event analysis is reconstructive and may not reflect what actually happened in your life.

5. AI-GENERATED CONTENT
Responses are produced by large language models (currently Anthropic Claude). AI systems can and do generate inaccurate, misleading, fabricated, or contradictory content (commonly known as "hallucinations"). The same question may yield different answers across sessions. AI output should never be treated as fact, prophecy, or instruction. You must independently verify any information before acting on it.

6. NO RELIANCE
You agree that you will not rely on the Service for any important life decision, including but not limited to: marriage, divorce, separation, conception, abortion, pregnancy timing, medical treatment, surgery, medication, financial investments, business deals, property purchases, employment changes, immigration, travel, relocation, or legal proceedings. Any action you take based on the Service is taken at your own sole risk.

7. NO MEDICAL, FINANCIAL OR LEGAL CLAIMS
LifeIndex makes no diagnosis, no treatment, no cure, no prescription, no investment recommendation, and no legal opinion. Any text produced by the Service that resembles such advice is for entertainment only and must be ignored for actual decisions.

8. ACCURACY OF YOUR INPUT
Astrological calculations depend entirely on the birth date, time, and place you provide. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of this data. LifeIndex accepts no responsibility for output generated from incomplete, incorrect, or fabricated birth data.

9. CULTURAL AND RELIGIOUS NEUTRALITY
LifeIndex draws on Vedic astrology as a cultural and historical system. The Service is not affiliated with any religion, sect, deity, temple, astrologer, or spiritual organisation. References to planetary energies, dashas, nakshatras, or houses are presented as part of the Vedic system, not as religious instruction.

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, LIFEINDEX, ITS OWNERS, FOUNDERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, RELATIONSHIPS, EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, MENTAL ANGUISH, PHYSICAL HARM, FINANCIAL LOSS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON ANY CONTENT PRODUCED BY THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF LIFEINDEX HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

LifeIndex ("LifeIndex", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, who we share it with, your rights, and how to contact us. By using LifeIndex you confirm you have read and understood this Policy.

1. WHO WE ARE (DATA CONTROLLER)
LifeIndex is operated by an individual data controller. Contact: support@lifeindex.io. For users in India, this contact also serves as our Grievance Officer under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDPA").

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
(a) Account & identity data: name, email address, phone number (and country code), authentication credentials, profile picture (if you choose to upload one).
(b) Birth data: date of birth, time of birth, place of birth (city, latitude, longitude, timezone, country). This is required to compute your astrological chart.
(c) Lifestyle data: relationship status, employment status, age (derived from DOB). Optional but improves personalisation.
(d) User-generated content: questions you ask Aura, chat history, partner-match data you enter, feedback, ratings.
(e) Preferences: language style, response length, notification preferences.
(f) Device & usage data: device type, OS, app version, IP address, language, timezone, session timestamps, feature usage, crash logs.
(g) Payment data: only transaction identifiers and credit purchase records. We do not store full card numbers, CVV, or bank credentials. Payments are handled by regulated processors (Apple App Store, Google Play Billing, Stripe, Razorpay, or similar).

3. LAWFUL BASIS FOR PROCESSING (GDPR ART. 6 & 9)
We process your data on the following lawful bases:
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR; Section 6 DPDPA) — for collection of birth data, lifestyle data, and chat content. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
• Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to provide the Service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — fraud prevention, security, abuse detection, basic analytics.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — to comply with tax, accounting, court orders, regulatory requests.
Birth, lifestyle and chat data are processed under your explicit consent given when you tap "I agree" at signup. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

4. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
• Generate personalised astrological readings, charts, daily horoscopes, and predictions
• Power AI chat ("Aura") with context-aware responses
• Compute compatibility readings between you and a partner you input
• Personalise content based on your relationship/employment/age context
• Process credit purchases and manage your balance
• Detect fraud, abuse, or violation of Terms
• Improve the Service (anonymised/aggregated only)
• Communicate service updates, security notices, or changes to legal terms
We do NOT use your data for advertising, profiling for marketing, or automated decisions with legal effect. We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone.

5. AI PROCESSING
Your questions to Aura are sent to Anthropic Claude API for response generation. Anthropic processes the request and returns a response. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, your inputs are not used to train their models. Responses are generated fresh per request and stored encrypted in our database to provide chat history.

6. DATA SHARING
We share data only with the following processors strictly to operate the Service:
• Anthropic (USA) — AI inference for chat
• Firebase / Google (USA) — phone OTP verification, optional Google sign-in
• Apple (USA) — optional Apple sign-in
• Railway (Singapore) — application hosting
• Postgres database (Singapore) — encrypted storage
• Resend (USA) — transactional email (password reset only)
• Apple App Store / Google Play / Stripe / Razorpay — payment processing
We may also disclose data when required by law, court order, regulatory request, or to protect rights, property, safety, or to investigate fraud. We will notify you unless legally prohibited.

7. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Your data may be processed in Singapore, the United States, the European Economic Area, India, and other countries where our processors operate. Where data is transferred outside the EEA/UK/India, we rely on:
• EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission (Art. 46 GDPR)
• Adequacy decisions where applicable
• Your explicit consent at signup (Art. 49(1)(a)) as an additional safeguard
For Indian users, transfers comply with notifications issued under DPDPA Section 16.

8. DATA SECURITY
• All personal data including birth details, chat history, profile data, location, lat/lon, and lifestyle information is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM
• Email addresses and phone numbers are stored as cryptographic hashes (HMAC-SHA-256) for lookup
• All data in transit is protected by TLS 1.2+ (HTTPS)
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with salt
• Authentication uses signed JWTs with limited validity
• Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only
No system is 100% secure. In the unlikely event of a personal data breach affecting your data, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours where required by GDPR Art. 33–34 and DPDPA Section 8(6).

9. DATA RETENTION
• Active account data is retained while your account is active
• On account deletion, data is soft-deleted immediately and permanently purged within 365 days (subject to legal holds for tax/accounting records)
• Anonymised, aggregated analytics may be retained indefinitely
• Backups containing your data are rotated within 90 days

10. YOUR RIGHTS
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
• Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data (most can be edited directly in Profile)
• Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — delete your account and data
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Restriction — limit how we process your data
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent — at any time without affecting prior lawful processing
• Lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority

11. INDIA — DPDPA SPECIFIC
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to: access information about processing, correction/erasure, grievance redressal, and to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in case of incapacity or death. Our Grievance Officer is reachable at support@lifeindex.io and will acknowledge complaints within 7 days and resolve within 30 days where feasible.

12. CALIFORNIA & US RESIDENTS (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA. To exercise any right, email support@lifeindex.io.

13. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
LifeIndex is intended for users aged 18 and above only. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will delete it. If you are a parent/guardian and believe your child has provided us data, contact support@lifeindex.io immediately.

14. COOKIES & LOCAL STORAGE
We use browser localStorage to remember your session and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.

15. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "User") and LifeIndex ("LifeIndex", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the LifeIndex application or website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. ACCEPTANCE AND ELIGIBILITY
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract under the laws of your jurisdiction. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that (a) you meet this age requirement, (b) you are not barred from receiving the Service under the laws of any applicable jurisdiction, and (c) all information you provide is true, accurate, and current. We may refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove content at our sole discretion, especially if these requirements are not met.

2. NATURE OF THE SERVICE
LifeIndex is an AI-powered software application that generates astrological insights based on Vedic astrology principles, ephemeris computations, and large language model output. The Service is provided for entertainment, cultural exploration, and self-reflection only. It is not a medical, mental health, financial, legal, marital, or psychological service. All content produced by the Service is interpretive opinion, not statement of fact. See the Disclaimer for the complete list of limitations.

3. ACCOUNT, SECURITY, ACCURACY
• You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activities under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, especially birth details.
• One account per person. Sharing, transferring, selling, or reselling accounts is prohibited.
• You must promptly notify us of any unauthorised use or security breach at support@lifeindex.io.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that show signs of fraud, abuse, automation, or violation of these Terms.

4. CREDITS, PURCHASES & SUBSCRIPTIONS
• Certain features require credits (e.g., chat, deep readings, compatibility, horoscopes, predictions).
• Credits and subscriptions are sold via Apple App Store, Google Play Billing, or web payment processors. Purchases through Apple/Google are also subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service.
• No cash value: Credits and free bonuses have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged, transferred, refunded for cash, or redeemed for goods.
• Non-refundable: All purchases are final and non-refundable except where mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction requires otherwise.
• EU/UK 14-day right of withdrawal: By purchasing and immediately consuming credits or content, you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal under Article 16(m) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU once the digital content is delivered.
• Free credits: Free credits, referral rewards, and streak bonuses may expire, be reduced, or be revoked at our discretion.
• Taxes: Prices may include or exclude applicable VAT/GST/sales tax depending on your location and the payment processor.
• Subscriptions (when offered): Auto-renew at the displayed price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal in your platform store account. You manage subscriptions through Apple/Google account settings.

5. ACCEPTABLE USE
You agree NOT to:
• Use the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, harmful, defamatory, threatening, harassing, hateful, obscene, or infringing purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, fork, or extract source code or models
• Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the Service
• Use the Service to make decisions affecting other people without their knowledge or consent (e.g., compatibility readings on a non-consenting partner used for malicious intent)
• Share, copy, resell, redistribute, or publish readings commercially
• Send abusive, sexual, threatening, or otherwise harmful content through chat
• Bypass payment, credit, or rate-limit systems
• Use the Service in any way that could harm minors, vulnerable individuals, or could be construed as practising medicine, law, or any regulated profession
• Use the Service to give advice to others as if it were professional advice from you
Violation may result in immediate account termination without refund and potential legal action.

6. USER CONTENT & LICENCE
You retain ownership of the content you submit (questions, profile data, partner data). By submitting content, you grant LifeIndex a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable licence to host, store, transmit, process, and display that content solely to operate the Service for you. You represent that you have all rights necessary to submit any content (including partner data you input for compatibility readings) and that doing so does not violate any third party's privacy or rights.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All software, code, designs, UI, brand, logo, "LifeIndex", "Aura", calculations, prompt templates, and AI-generated outputs framed within the Service are the intellectual property of LifeIndex or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works without our prior written consent. Vedic astrology principles themselves are not owned by LifeIndex; only our specific software and presentation are.

8. AI-GENERATED OUTPUT
AI responses are produced by third-party models and may contain inaccuracies, fabrications, contradictions, or offensive content despite our safeguards. You acknowledge this risk and agree that AI-generated content is provided "as is" with no warranty of accuracy, reliability, or suitability. LifeIndex is not responsible for AI hallucinations or any decisions made based on them. If you encounter harmful AI output, please report it to support@lifeindex.io.

9. NO WARRANTIES
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT ANY PREDICTION WILL OCCUR.

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
(a) LIFEINDEX, ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, RELATIONSHIPS, OR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.
(b) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY UNDER ANY THEORY (CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STATUTE, OR OTHERWISE) SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (i) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO LIFEINDEX IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (ii) ONE HUNDRED EURO (€100).
(c) NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY FOR FRAUD, WILFUL MISCONDUCT, GROSS NEGLIGENCE, OR ANY LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED UNDER MANDATORY APPLICABLE LAW (INCLUDING DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE).

11. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LifeIndex and its owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party right, including privacy or intellectual property rights; or (d) any decisions you or others made based on content from the Service.

12. SUSPENSION & TERMINATION
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms, suspected fraud, abuse, legal request, or discontinuation of the Service. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile section. On termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections relating to liability, indemnification, IP, governing law, and dispute resolution survive termination.

13. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Service relies on third-party providers (Anthropic, Firebase/Google, Apple, Railway, payment processors). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of these services. Third-party terms apply to your use of those services.

14. CHANGES TO THE TERMS
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified in-app or via email. The "Last Updated" date will be revised. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.

15. GOVERNING LAW & JURISDICTION
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The courts of Dublin, Ireland shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, except that we may bring proceedings in the country of your residence to enforce intellectual property rights or collect amounts due. Nothing in this section deprives you of any mandatory consumer protection rights granted to you under the laws of your country of residence.

16. DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at support@lifeindex.io and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Where allowed, disputes may be referred to mediation or binding arbitration administered under recognised rules in Ireland. Class action waiver: to the extent permitted by law, claims may only be brought on an individual basis, not as part of a class, consolidated, or representative action.

17. EU / UK CONSUMERS
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you may also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by these Terms.

18. INDIA — JURISDICTION-SPECIFIC
For users in India, these Terms also constitute an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000, generated by computer systems and not requiring physical signature. Disputes may also be addressed through the grievance mechanism described in our Privacy Policy. Provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and DPDPA, 2023 apply where mandatory.

19. UNITED STATES
For US users: you agree these Terms are governed by Ireland law, but you retain any non-waivable rights under your state of residence. Where required, the Federal Arbitration Act may apply to arbitration of disputes. Class-action waiver applies as permitted by US law.

20. AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, ASIA, AFRICA, MIDDLE EAST
For users in Australia, NZ, and other regions: the Australian Consumer Law guarantees certain rights that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any non-excludable consumer guarantee. The same principle applies to non-waivable consumer rights in New Zealand, Singapore, UAE, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and any other jurisdiction where you reside.

21. EXPORT & SANCTIONS
You represent that you are not located in, and are not a national or resident of, any country subject to comprehensive sanctions under EU, US, UK, or UN law, and that you are not on any restricted-persons list.

22. FORCE MAJEURE
We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, government action, labour strikes, internet or power failures, or third-party service outages.

23. SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.

24. ENTIRE AGREEMENT
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and LifeIndex regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.

25. ASSIGNMENT
You may not assign or transfer these Terms. We may assign these Terms to any successor or affiliate without notice.

26. NO WAIVER
Our failure to enforce any right or provision will not be deemed a waiver of that right or provision.
